Dr. Chiew-Ping Hoo is Senior Fellow of the East Asian International Relations (EAIR) Caucus, Malaysia. She is concurrently a member of the Asia Pacific Nuclear Advisory Panel (APNAP) of the British American Security Information Council (BASIC), Research Fellow at the Yokosuka Council on Asia Pacific Studies (YCAPS), and Editorial Board Member for the AUP Politics and IR in Asia Series at Amsterdam University Press. Previously, Dr. Hoo had served 16 years at the National University of Malaysia (2007-2023) as Senior Lecturer in Strategic Studies and International Relations; was Defence White Paper consultant and writer for the Ministry of Defence (2019-2020); and a member of Consultative Council on Foreign Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2021-2022) of Malaysia. Her research interests include the Korean Peninsula security issues, nuclear-maritime security nexus in East Asia, and economic-security linkages between Northeast and Southeast Asia. She received her PhD in Politics and International Relations from La Trobe University, Australia.
