USEC. NESTOR HERICO

Major General Nestor C. Herico, PN(M)(Ret), hailed from Zamboanga City, is
a distinguished former Commandant of the Philippine Marine Corps, renowned for
his exemplary leadership, strategic insight, and unwavering dedication to duty. In
less than a month after his retirement, he was officially appointed as the Deputy
Director General for Partnership and Engagement of the National Security Council
last August 10, 2022.

The highlights of his military career include his designation as the
Commander 3
rd Marine Brigade located in Puerto Princesa City Palawan, his
assumption as the 65th The Naval Inspector General of the Philippine Navy, Vice
Commander of the Philippine Navy, and the 34th Commandant of the Philippine
Marines.

Deputy Director General Herico graduated from the Philippine Military
Academy in 1988. As he ascended through the ranks, he completed his Master’s in
Management Major in Publication Administration from the Philippine Christian
University in 1998, and Master’s in Public Management Major in International
Development Security from the Development Academy of the Philippines in 2011
with the same fervor and determination that defined his military service.

As a decorated Marine General, he has been recognized with numerous
awards for his outstanding performance such as a Presidential Merit Medal, two
Presidential Legion of Honor Awards, two Awards of the Chief of Staff from the
Armed Forces of the Philippines, and two Parangal sa Kapanalig ng Sandatahang
Lakas ng Pilipinas medal and ribbon among others.
